The story of Ginkgo..

The ginkgo tree is a unique species of tree, a ‘living fossil’ dating back over 200 million years. For hundreds of years it was thought to be extinct only to be rediscovered in the eastern provinces of China. The Ginkgo tree survives today thanks to the careful nurturing by Buddhist monks who revered the tree for its medicinal qualities & cultivated them in the gardens around their temples.

In Eastern culture the ginkgo tree is sacred, a symbol of longevity, unifying body mind & spirit.

For us at ‘Ginkgo Healing’ the Ginkgo tree is testimony to the miraculous healing powers of nature. The story of the careful nurturing of the ginkgo trees by the Buddhist monks embodies what we stand for.
